Inside BBSAwards – One Day with Adam Vyt - Interview

Thanks for your time, Adam Vyt. Now that we are almost at the end of 2017,

what are some words you would use to describe this year?

2017 has been a very productive year as far as music is concerned,
reaching the top 100 of beatport with several tracks.
I received one of the awards at the Miami Bass Awards 2017 as the best international revelation artist.
I have had the opportunity to work with great promoters all over the national scene.

Just ask that 2018 come loaded with new dreams and goals to fulfill.

Hopes (Adam Vyt Remix) (Adam Vyt Remix)
Can you tell us what you like best about your track?

The original track I liked a lot and that's why I decided to remix it.
I began to work giving an old-school approach with some touches of acid and a line of blunt basses that vibrate all your hearts on the dance floor.

In all my productions I always try to reflect this style that I miss so much. The old school is back

Can you tell us about the new project you will be working on in 2017/2018?

This new year will begin with a new release under the label Funktasty Crew Records, a remix to the track "Khoiser - Oxygen"
This release will have a place between the months of February and March.

Several events to be confirmed and others that are already under way for this new year that seems to come with great force.

Imagine walking inside the studio; please, can you speak to me through a typical day? What are your habits?

My study is my sanctuary.
I spend almost all my free time rummaging through vinyl records and mixing non-stop, it's my biggest vice and that's where I look for ideas and then sit down at my production table.

What to say about those moments in which you sit in your study and the hours pass like minutes, I enter a new world in which the notion of time is lost.

I also dedicate myself to the sale of online vinyl records and I spend a lot of time there making the shipments for everyone. You can search my store by searching on Facebook "VytMan - Vinyl Shop"

How will you choose the software and add-ons you use?

My favorite DAW is Logic Pro, it was with the one I started making my first track and today I still work with it.

I always start my tracks by creating a drums from some samples of the old school, adding new kicks, snare and other percussion sounds using Battery for this, then I keep creating melodies from voices or some other element that gives me a musical note in particular.

Many of the VST I use every day are Battery, Nexus, A.N.A, Massive and Serum along with other plugins that come integrated in Logic Pro.

What is the only piece of DJ / production equipment that you can not live with?

First of all I can not live without my Technics 1200MK2

Any artists / DJs / producers in particular that really influenced you?

Dj Zinc, Mark Ruff Ryder, Harry lime, Stanton Warriors ... are some of my favorite artists.

What is the music scene like at this moment in your country?

We have a very good scene in our country, mostly in the area of Andalusia.

I can claim to be from Andalusia and say that it is one of the best Breakbeat scenes in the world

Often, certain cities are related to certain sounds and subgenres. Do you think that living in your city is reflected in your music?

Of course yes. I'm from Cádiz and I grew up there listening to Breakbeat in all the rooms at the time of the year 2000 when it was the golden age of Breakbeat in Andalusia.

Inside BBSAwards – One Day with Funky Flavor Music- Interview

Thanks for your time FFM!
Now that we are almost at the end of 2017, what are some words you would use to describe this year?

Scotty: Aggressive, Bold, Never underestimated, Consistent

Renato: Truly Blessed and it Flew By...

Timothy: Great Music and Production   Family Time

What have been some of the highlights for the label?

Scotty: Taking FFM from a Brand that hosted Mixes and Shows..to a World Wide record label. From it`s inception till now, we have and always will Honor the true pioneer of BB Rick West. He is the Reason it started and will Continue. R.I.P Rick West.

Timothy: Definitely having 4 or more tracks in the beatport top 100 for several months at a time. Also having a label has had us involved with some pretty amazing shows over the past few years.

Renato: Staying In Top 10 for 4 months with Heart Player Colombo.  Working with Colombo on a couple of Projects. And working with New Artists..like JRok and Nerve

What’s in store for 2018 for Funky Flavor Music?

Timothy: In 2018 we will be gearing up for our 100th release. Stay tuned...we have something special in store.

Scotty:  FF Has and will continue to be at the forefront of consistent releases. Also adding label compulations, full alblums and multiple track EPs.

Renato: Just keep grinding finding New artist that will fit in the FFM Family. And getting our Main website done and working smooth.

What made you decide to create Record Label?

Timothy:  It just seemed like a natural next step after all our mix series were doing so well. We also owe the idea of starting Funky Flavor Music to Orlando's own breakbeat legend D Xtreme.

Scotty:  Funky Flavor and FFMusic were born to legendary DJ/Producer Rick West. After attending Rick's memorial in Tampa I knew I wanted to continue the Legacy of Rick West and Flavored Beats

Renato:  With a Record Label you can really step up your presence and more Passion to a World wide Platform...Also we can reach out to Talent that might get overlooked. I Enjoy developing and helping new talent that have passion for the Music.  Nobody ever reached out to me as a DJ/Artist...So I try to do the Opposite and give back.

How did you come up with the name?

Timothy:  The name Funky Flavor was the brain child of Scotty after he attended the Rick West memorial party. He wanted to find a way to pay his respect to a legend. Since we already had the branding with Funky Flavor, Funky Flavor Music was an obvious choice for the label name.

What was the first album that you ever bought?

Timothy:  Some random spanish trance track, I cant remember who it was by, but the song title was "Universo"

Scotty:   Master Of Puppets  Metallica

Renato:   Actually It was 3 pieces of Vinyl from Vinyl Frontier Cliff Tangretti sold to me  DynaMix Give The DJ a Break  Bass Bin Twins Green and A1 Love

What album are you most proud of in your label?

Timothy:  Definitely very proud of the Forever West track and all the amazing remixes that came from it.

Scotty:  Forever West  Colombo

Renato:  Heart Player EP  feat. Colombo and Renato Guirao

In your years in the music business, what is the best thing about being involved with it and the worst?

Timothy:  The best part for me is giving new artists the platform to get their music out to the masses. The worst part is that my day job is very hectic and with new releases every week, I try to give every track the promoting they deserve, but sometimes I just cannot.

Scotty:  The Best...is knowing that people I have never met are positively impacted by the music we release.  The Worst....Trying to keep up with the ever changing EDM world...I love all music..Can't listen to it all.

Renato:   Its all good.... when you are involved with something you love:)

What’s your most memorable experience inside the label?

Timothy: Definitely being a part of some really great shows. From our wake N break series of events to big shows like the Reunion. Def looking forward to the Prismatic new years eve party!

Scotty:  When DJ Rob-E called me on Apr1 2015 and asked to do a mix for FF

Renato: Getting to work with Colombo

What does your day-to-day look like?

Timothy:   Busy, Busy, Busy. Did I mention busy?

Scotty:  Music, Mixes, Artist, Producers and the best Music. I would not trade for nothing..I Love It

Renato:  Blessed with NO Stress

When looking into potential new artists to sign, what are some of the qualities that you find exciting

Timothy:  Creativity, good energy, flexability and great attitude.

Scotty:  I would Say the Same...

Renato:  I Agree

Do you have any advice to offer up to incoming artists/djs/bands?

Timothy:  Branding!!!!!!

Scotty:  Yeah ...Know your History, Roots, Do your own thing but don`t be cocky because their is always someone better Take Advice and have Fun

Renato:  Stay Humble and treat people how you would like to be treated   and Learn the word RESPECT

Is there anything else that you would like to share with our readers about the Records?

Scotty:  Play some Skynard Man!!!!!

Renato:  Two Roads diverged in the wood...and I took the Road less Traveled...

Thanks for your time Waster Recording! Now that we are almost at the end of 2017,
what are some words you would use to describe this year?

This year has been intensive for us, but always we have in mind to do it better. It's important to get focused in all things that can be improved

What have been some of the highlights for the label?

We are happy seeing how there are more people that are listening us. Our tracks lately are hitting the Beatport's Top10 Breaks tracks and we are very proud of that

What’s in store for 2018 for Wasted Recording?

The most important thing for 2018 its the intention to open up to more genres. We are introducing more quality producers into the label and want to express our feelings beyond breaks music

What made you decide to create Record Label?

We started this project with the intention of consolidate a place for all the music that makes our heart vibrate

How did you come up with the name?

Nothing important, we agreed the name between us

What was the first album that you ever bought?

My first CD album I remember to buy was "Fat Of The Land" by The Prodigy

What album are you most proud of in your label?

I can take a lot of the WASTED stuff, all the releases are selected with care. But if I must take one, would say "Tonight" by Suga7 or "Talk To Me" by The Brainkiller

In your years in the music business, what is the best thing about being involved with it and the worst?

Generally all the things that envolve the music are good. We have made a lot of friends around the world, and met them in some gigs. It's really nice to meet people that feel the same for the music than us
Don't relevant things have been bad at this moment

What’s your most memorable experience inside the label?

For me, the best experience in all off this, is to feel the heat from all the people that listen our label. A lot of them are our friends now. They show love to your work and that is very gratifying

What does your day-to-day look like?

We have a normal life, except we are fans of music. We listen and produce music everyday (Or we try it!) It's our hobby

When looking into potential new artists to sign, what are some of the qualities that you find exciting?

The first thing we have in mind when searching tracks is that the song have "WASTED" feeling. And if have it, the quality of the production, the music industry is stricter every day

Do you have any advice to offer up to incoming artists/djs/bands?

Our phrase is, "Do all You want. Don't try to sound like anyone. Do all what your heart tells to You"
This is the phrase we always have in mind

Is there anything else that you would like to share with our readers about the Records?

Of course! Thank you all for reading us and hope you like the place where we put our sounds on. We have a lot of bass, breaks, garage, house and more music waiting for 2018.

Now that we are almost at the end of 2017,
what are some words you would use to describe this year?

This year has been awesome, Iv'e been really fortunate to play some really good gigs, and work with some really talented producers. Really looking forward to 2018

Music Takes Control Original Mix
Can you tell us what your favourite thing is about your  track?

My favorite part about that track besides the hook would be the piano in the breakdown

Can you tell us about new project you will be working on 2017/2018?

Well I am currently working on a few projects, a collaboration with B-Phreak, couple of remixes for a few different labels, starting a duo project with a friend of mine called Pump Pump, and I'm starting my own label Rocksteady Records.

Imagine yourself walking into the studio; please may you talk me through a typical day? What are your habits?

When I hit the studio I like to already have an idea for a track, already know what direction or the feel of the song I want to go with. I find it easier to finish tracks that way.

How do you go about choosing what software and plug-ins you use?

I have my go-to plug -ins that I use in all my tracks. If I see a new plug-in that peeks my interest I will try the demo, and if I feel it's something I will use a lot I will buy it.

What’s the one piece of DJ/production gear you can’t live without?

My PC lol

Any particular artists/dj’s/ producers that really influenced you?

Fixx, Stanton Warriors, Deekline.

How’s the  music scene in this moment in your country?

I would say it's good, some states better than others but for the most part good.

Often particular cities are linked to certain sounds and sub genres. Do you think living in your city is reflected in your music?

I'd like to think so, I always have and always will represent DC, it's home for me. \
