Inside BBSAwards 2017 - one day with BreaksMafia- Interview

1º. What are some words you would use to describe this year?.

The truth is that this year for me has been very difficult. When you lose someone in your family, especially a seven-year-old nephew, everything is complicated. But if I have to look for some words to describe this year would be: Hope, Struggle, Effort, Compromise, Dreams, Illusion, Hard Work ...

2º. KARNIVALYA 01 - Give It To Em (BreaksMafia Remix) Can you tell us what your favourite thing is about your track?.

When Wes Smith asked me for do a remix of his song i was already clear what kind of work i would do. As a good music lover and knower of the story Breakbeat already knew that he had to mix the new with the old, add powerful rhythms and give our touch so Spanish. My favorite part is when you break the first drop, after a good melodic rise, take bass groovy low.

3º. Can you tell us about new project you will be working on 2017/2018?.

For this new season I will continue in the same line, work, work and work. Sometimes it is not easy to combine production work with events, to act all over the country and to be out many weekends. This year we have many new songs that are supported by the biggest ones. We will edit on the fattest labels on the scene and we will have very good collaborations. For now we can not reveal what's about to come out, but it's going to be insane.

4º. Imagine yourself walking into the studio; please may you talk me through a typical day? What are your habits?.

My typical day is basically the same for many years. I get up, breakfast, then review everything I have to do. I usually stay in the studio for 4 to 8 hours, I take breaks to not saturate the ears and I never listen to what I do at a high volume. It is important to be comfortable and enjoy the light of day. One of the things I like most is to have study days with my partner, we spend the days gutting machines and looking for new sounds.

5º. How do you go about choosing what software and plug-ins you use?.

I use Ableton Live and lots of plug-ins. All Native Instruments, Serum, A.N.A, Waves, Spire, Izotope, Wow, FabFilter and many more others ;)

6º. What’s the one piece of DJ/production gear you can’t live without?.

As a Dj I can not live without my Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus 2 mixer, my MacBook Pro, my Headphones and my Midi controller. As a Producer I can not live without my Mac Pro, my Focusrite Sound Card, Dynaudio Monitors and my novation.

7º. Any particular artists/dj’s/ producers that really influenced you?.

Of course, there are many artists that have influenced me throughout my career. Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath on 4x4 rhythms and Kraftwerk, Orbital, The Prodigy, Icey, Bassbin Twins, Freestylers, Plump Djs, Stanton Warriors, Anthony Rother and many more on broken rhythms. Got lot of old expirience with all they.

8º. How’s the music scene in this moment in your country?.

Currently the Spanish breaks scene lives the decay and the end of everything that in years ago we had. In my opinion we have the best producers in the world and many of these producers have to leave this genre because they do not earn enough money to live, these producers do not work like other names known worldwide. There is a lot of dinosaur living from the name or from what little he did in the past. I believe that in our country we fight a lot to keep this musical genre alive, our events speak for themselves and all artists from the outside always want to come to our country because as we live here the breakbeat is not lived anywhere else.

9º. Often particular cities are linked to certain sounds and sub genres. Do you think living in your city is reflected in your music?.

Of course, i totally agree.
