Inside BBS Awards 2019 - One day with Macho - Interview

Hello Macho!

Thank you so much for taking time to do an Interview with us .

Macho is breaks and bass music producer and dj from Slovakia. His name

appeared on more than 60 releases till now on labels Punks, LOT49,

InBeatWeTrust, Selecta Breaks Records, Diablo Loco, VIM Records, Breaks.sk

and others. He played in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria and Serbia clubs

including biggest dance music festival in the heart of Europe Beats For Love, or

biggest slovak electronic openair gig Beefree and also Let it Roll Slovakia. In

2012 he won remix competition on LOT49 for Meat Katie. Four years later he

won remix competiton on Stanton Warriors label Punks Music for Marten Horger

and Eva Lazarus. In 2017 he remixed Martin Flex and Ragga Twins. In 2018

were finished releases on Lady Waks label InBeatWeTrust Music and spannish

Selecta Breaks Records. For 2019 are planned release with bass legend from

United States Dj Fixx and more releases on top US breaks labels Ravesta

Records and Gigabeat Records.

BBS: What are some words you would use to describe this year (2019)?

MACHO: This yeas was very productive, i did releases with Diablo Loco, Delicious Groove Records, Funktasty Crew, Ravesta and Gigabeat. My name appeared on around 10 releases and track Enuff with Dj Fixx hit number 4 on Beatport Top 100 Tracks ! Then Fast & Furious hit number 12 and also other tracks get into top 100.

BBS: Can you tell us what you like best about your favorite track produced in 2019?

MACHO: What i really like is that my tracks have now better sound.

BBS: Can you tell us about the new project you will be working on in 2020?

MACHO: Some new tracks are already prepared for 2020, some are in progress. You can expect some tracks with vocals as i asked one vocalist for cooperation. I was also booked few days ago to one of the biggest dance festivals in Central Europe in 2020, so really looking forward.

BBS: Imagine walking inside the studio; please, can you speak to me through a typical day? What are your habits?

MACHO: Depends on if i have some concrete idea on which i want to work, then i go straight to producing. Otherwise i usually check first some new releases, good to know what is going on atm. 

BBS: How will you choose the software and add-ons you use?

MACHO: Usually i find info on social medias, like music and producers groups on facebook, then youtube, blogs, etc...

BBS: Are you an avid believer of learning an instrument?

MACHO: Not really, i am computer man.

BBS: What is the only piece of DJ / production equipment that you can not live with?

MACHO: Computer and headphones :)

BBS: So what are your thoughts on technology aiding the technique of DJing?

MACHO: I think its good, you have more options how to do your dj set. On the other side i think that people dont care how do you play. Important is the result they hear.

BBS: Any artists / DJs / producers in particular that really influenced you?

MACHO: I like latest Stanton Warriors album and also Chris Royal is doing good stuff.

BBS: What is the music scene like at this moment in your country?

MACHO: If we are talking about electronic music, then dnb is most popular in Slovakia. There isnt any breaks scene here, so i play very rarely. If i remember correctly, in last few years i had more gigs abroad than in my home country.

BBS: Often, certain cities are related to certain sounds and sub-genres. Do you think that living in your city is reflected in your music?

MACHO: From my point of view no, as i am living in small town, i guess this can work in bigger cities.
