INTERVIEW:

BBS AWARDS 2018

Hello and welcome to BBS AWARDS 2018.
Today I have been joined by super DJ and producer AYLEN.
Hi! Nice to have you here in BBS Awards.

Can you tell us about the new project you will be working on in 2019?

Basically working on a ton of music. Got another EP coming out on Audiophile XXL on Jan 18th, an EP on OKNF Records in Feb and a track coming out on Botnek’s World Famous Headquarters label compilation sometime in March. Also, have a duo project called Shanghai Doom that I've been working on a lot.

Imagine walking inside the studio; please, can you speak to me through a typical day? What are your habits?

Honestly, I just sit down start a beat then mess around and make sounds until something starts to stick.

How will you choose the software and add-ons you use?

There’s no real rhyme or reason to it. Lately, I’ve been using a lot of ableton stock plugins.

Are you an avid believer of learning an instrument?

I grew up playing a few instruments which I think definitely helps, but isn't completely necessary.

What is the only piece of DJ / production equipment that you can not live with?

Did you mean without? If so, then Ableton

So what are your thoughts on technology aiding the technique of DJing and Music Production?
I think it’s great. Anything that helps creativity is a plus in my book.

Any artists / DJs / producers, in particular, that really influenced you?

There’s so many but a few of the lesser known that I'm vibin right now are Proper Villains, DJOKO, E.R.N.E.S.T.O, Westend, Maelstrom, Sven Lochenhoer, Elleot

What is the music scene like at this moment in your country?

Although it can be a bit oversaturated at times I think the music scene is going well. More people are interested in electronic/dance music now than ever before.

Often, certain cities are related to certain sounds and subgenres. Do you think that living in your city is reflected in your music?

Not particularly. Especially with the internet now I don’t think sounds or subgenres really stick to one area anymore.
